Immaculate Unveils A Better Cookie For Kids!

July 27, 2005
Hendersonville, NC

Immaculate Baking Company, known for its imaginative cookie flavors and folk art-decorated packaging, happily announces the organic certification of its facility and all-new kids' line of cookies! The award of 100% Organic means that all of the ingredients included in the cookies are certified organic according to USDA standards, and the Immaculate facility has been deemed a certified processor of organic products. Being awarded an organic certificate is a true milestone for Immaculate and a great example of its continued commitment to create the highest quality baked goods for all to enjoy.

"We've been moving in this direction over the last few years and feel that it's a natural step to take especially when it comes to baking in the nutritional interest of kids," says Scott Blackwell, founder and CEO of Immaculate. "We hope to convert the rest of our line from all natural to organic in the very near future as an additional measure of support for our organic consumers, organic farmers and other sustainable businesses in the greater community."

In order to be awarded organic certification, a processor must be verified by a USDA-accredited third party, a process that includes extensive, yearly inspections of the facility, detailed outlines of manufacturing processes, and continued verification of organic ingredients. Immaculate was awarded their certificate by Clemson University-DPI.

Organic standards, first regulated by the USDA in October 2002, help ensure consumer confidence in products that support sustainable farming, soil and water conservation, and environmental awareness. In fact, all foods labeled as organic are made from ingredients produced without conventional pesticides and synthetically produced fertilizers.  In addition, these foods do not contain ingredients tainted with genetically modified organisms (GMOs).
