October 28, 2006
Chapel Hill, NC
Immaculate Baking Company, bakers of the World's Biggest Cookie, has announced that it will bake a 10 foot wide, 500 pound MONSTER pumpkin cookie to raise money for local non-profit, Volunteers For Youth. The baking of this monster cookie will take place Saturday, October 28th at A Southern Season on Estes Drive (University Mall).
"We're super excited to have A Southern Season partner with us in raising money for such a great organization as Volunteers For Youth," says Scott Blackwell, Founder and CEO of Immaculate Baking Company. "This super-sized, pumpkin ginger cookie does two great things: it gives back just like our 100 foot cookie did, and it's guaranteed to bring a smile to all that participate in baking and eating it!"
Made with 175 pounds of flour, 80+ eggs and nearly 40 pounds of pumpkin puree (the equivalent of over 30 large pumpkins!!!), this monster cookie (aptly named in the true spirit of Halloween) will weigh over 500 pounds and cover nearly 50 square feet. Wow!! That is a BIG cookie! Pieces of the cookie will be sold for a suggested donation of $10, and all proceeds will be given to Volunteers For Youth. With a baking time of nearly 4 hours, the cookie will be unveiled around 3:30 PM, and a representative from VFY will be on hand to cut and serve the first official piece of the cookie. While the cookie is baking, several special performances from Flava, the VFY cheer squad, will be delivered to entertain the crowd.
In addition to baking this ten-foot colossal cookie, the folks at Immaculate will be sampling from their line of organic scratch-baked cookies. Be sure to stop by to get a taste of these award-winning baked goods!
A Southern Season is located at University Mall, Hwy 15-501@ Estes Drive, and festivities for the big cookie bake will commence Saturday, October 28th at 11:30 AM with a rain date set for the next day (October 29th).
